Woman who wanted to jump off 20-storey Dubai building saved

DUBAI - A European woman was saved after a policeman talked her out of jumping to her death from a 20-storey tower in Dubai, a police official said. The woman, in her 20s, was seen standing on the ledge of the balcony of her apartment in the Jumeirah Village by witnesses who reported the incident to the police. Brigadier Abdul Raheem Bin Shafeei, director of Al Barsha police station, said that the woman was depressed due to family disputes and had contemplated suicide. A police officer was sent to the building to talk her out of committing suicide and convinced her to go to the Al Barsha police station along with her husband. She will now undergo counselling under the Hope Window initiative of the Dubai Police.
