Honorary title goes to iconic super heroine Wonder Woman
DUBAI – On October 21, the world will have a super hero as UN honorary ambassador in the form of Wonder Woman.
Since her comic book debut in 1941, Wonder Woman has been recognised as an Amazon princess, a demigoddess and an emissary and ambassador from her homeland.
Now, Diana of Themyscira will gain a new real-world title: UN honorary ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls.
For 75 years, Diana has long been a symbol of female empowerment and one of DC Comics’ most iconic superheroes.
The official designation event announcing Wonder Woman’s new title will be held at the UN headquarters in New York on October 21, in conjunction with Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary.
The ceremony will be attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson and other special guests.
Actresses Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter—who both played Wonder Woman—will also be present at the event.
