  DUBAI – Construction of the Dh12 billion-Azizi Riviera project has started with Phases 1 and 2 expected to be finished in December next year. The urban community located at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City Meydan One project is inspired by the French Riviera and according to a statement by Azizi Developments, Azizi Riviera will have 69 mid-rise residential buildings with 13,000 one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio apartment units; a mega integrated retail district; a four-star hotel; and a five-star hotel. Azizi Riviera's integrated retail district will feature high street bridge brands, leisure and entertainment options and offer access to pedestrian paths and water transport, yachting facilities and a proposed marina. The groundbreaking ceremony for Azizi Riviera was attended by Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, chairman and chief executive of the Meydan Group, and Mirwais Azizi, chairman of Azizi Developments. The project is jointly undertaken by KCC Engineering and Construction Ltd and Actco General Constructing Co. Al Tayer said Meydan Group is committed to making Dubai become a world-class city "by developing integrated communities" in strategic areas in the megapolis. "Our strategic partnership with Azizi aims to deliver high-end living spaces such as Azizi Riviera to meet existing market demands. The real estate market in the UAE and Dubai in particular is seeing growing interest from international investors and we remain confident of the dynamism of the sector and its long term prospects," he also said.
