Have you seen the world's biggest lantern in Sharjah?

  SHARJAH – A giant replica lantern in Sharjah has just been declared the largest of its kind in the world. It stands 15.5 metres high, or about 9 people standing on top of each other's shoulders. The lantern, designed and built by Global Event Management Group, is located at the entrance to Souq Al Jubail. It works, too, casting a gorgeous, warm glow over the entrance to the market. Speaking on the award handed by the Guinness World Records, Ali Al Suwaidi, Director of Souq Al Jubail, said: “We were absolutely thrilled when we received the news that we had been awarded this prestigious world record. The lantern, which now stands as an iconic new landmark at the waterfront of Sharjah, will bring even more people to the market to enjoy our high-quality, cost-effective produce from the farm and sea.” He said the lantern will be a permanent feature at the souq.
