Observance of the holy month of Ramadan starts today; fasting, prayers dominate period

  ABU DHABI – Hundreds of worshippers trooped and gathered at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the country's capital as the observance of holy month of Ramadan started today. Both adults and children went to the mosque to offer prayers and for rituals. Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It is believed that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammed on Ramadan.
