A major expansion at Yas Waterworld Yas Island will officially open to visitors on Friday (April 4), adding a new wave of attractions to one of the UAE’s most popular waterparks. Developer Miral said the expansion is part of the park’s ongoing “Lost City” theme, building on the story of The Legend of the Lost Pearl. The new development introduces eight slides, two jump platforms, and a leisure pool, bringing the total number of attractions in the park to more than 70. Jonathan Brown, Chief Portfolio Officer at Miral, said the expansion reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing visitor experiences on Yas Island. “The expansion of Yas Waterworld marks an important milestone in our commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences,” Brown said. “With new slides and attractions, we are enhancing the park’s offering with fresh thrills and immersive adventures for guests of all ages.” Among the highlights is Matamir’s Drop, described as the UAE’s tallest waterslide, featuring a plunge from over 40 metres followed by a 233-metre ride. Other new attractions include Sahel Matamir, a high-speed tube racer with bursts of acceleration and moments of zero gravity, and Matamir Loop, designed for rapid descents. Guests can also try Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights, which combines fast drops with lighting effects, or compete with friends on Matamir Splash, a side-by-side racing slide. For those looking to relax, Sarab offers a spacious leisure pool, while Al Afda features a jump platform for thrill-seekers.
