155 Israelis stranded at Dubai airport, Flydubai apologizes

DUBAI – Flydubai airline has apologized after 155 Israeli passengers were stranded at the Dubai airport on Monday. The airline said it would review “the process and procedures to prevent any delays to subsequent flights”. Israeli reports showed people queuing at the arrival hall of the Dubai International Airport on Monday morning, reportedly due to issues with entry visas. Passengers were later able to enter Dubai. Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lior Haiat told media the issue stemmed from confusion over who was responsible in securing the visa. In October, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that UAE citizens and Israelis will have visa-free travel when they visit each other’s country. On Monday, UAE state news agency WAM said "the policy permitting the entry of Israeli citizens remains unchanged, and Israeli citizens continue to be welcomed to the UAE". ICA/Expat Media
