Passenger dies in Dubai-Dhaka flight, makes emergency landing

A passenger died on a Dubai-Dhaka flight, Flydubai confirmed. The passenger passed away in midair despite the aircraft having an emergency landing in Karachi. The airline acknowledged that a medical issue caused its aircraft FZ 523 from DXB to Dhaka Airport (DAC) to be diverted to Karachi Airport (KHI). A doctor and an ambulance were arranged for the passenger but the passenger has already passed away in midair. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials identified the passenger as a 59-year-old Shab Sheikh. The doctors confirmed that he died of a heart attack. The Flydubai aircraft took off on time but it was scheduled to land in Dhaka at 8:30pm. According to the officials, the plane departed for Dhaka at 8:17pm Karachi time following the incident. “Flydubai would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of a passenger who passed away. Our family assistance team is providing support and our thoughts are with the family of the passenger during this sad time. We are in touch with the relevant authorities,” the airline said in a statement. Last November 2022, a male passenger on an easyJet flight from Cyprus to London Gatwick Airport also died. A defibrillator was used to attempt to revive him but it was without success. KD/Expat Media
