200 Pakistanis on visit visa stranded at Dubai airport
Updated on October 15, 2021 DUBAI – Around 200 Pakistani nationals with visit visas to the UAE are stranded at the Dubai International Airport, a diplomat said. Pakistan’s consulate staff were at the airport to resolve the issue, said Giyan Chand, deputy consul general at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai. The stranded passengers reportedly came from Lahore. Majority of them are blue collar workers. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that the group arrived on a Pakistan International Airline flight and have been at Dubai airport since Tuesday. "A small number of travellers from Pakistan were denied entry at Dubai International Airport due to non-compliance with entry requirements for tourist visas," according to GDRFA. The authority said the travelers lacked proof of funds to cover their stay anda valid hotel reservation. They also did not have a return ticket booking and a relative’s reference.
