The family of a child who died in Al Ain due to doctors' medical negligence has been granted Dh400,000 in blood money and compensation. After being found guilty of negligence and making a treatment error, the Al Ain Civil Court ordered two hospitals and their doctors to pay compensation to the deceased child's parents jointly. According to court documents, the parents filed a complaint against the hospitals and their doctors, seeking Dh15 million in compensation for their child's death. The child had been transported from one hospital to another despite his condition, which required immediate treatment. The family claimed their child died due to the doctors' negligence, carelessness, and failure to apply proper medical standards in treatment. The child's father filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, which issued a report claiming that the defendants were liable for the child's death by failing to give appropriate medical treatment. According to the Higher Committee for Medical Responsibility assessment, there was a severe medical error, and the hospital's treatment was not in conformity with medical standards. Despite the patient's severe state, the committee also chastised the doctor for ordering the patient's transfer to another hospital without using an ambulance. The criminal court had previously convicted two hospitals and their doctors of causing the child's death owing to a medical error and ordered them to jointly pay blood money of Dh200,000 to the child's parents. The family subsequently filed a civil complaint against the defendants. The court ordered the hospitals and their doctors to pay the parents Dh200,000 in compensation and the blood money for a total of Dh400,000. The hospital was also ordered to pay for the parents' legal expenses.
