Dh400 fine, driving below speed limit in May

The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road's first and second lanes in both directions will begin to have a minimum speed limit system effective on April 1, 2023, according to the Abu Dhabi Police. Starting on April 1, drivers traveling in lanes below 120 kph will be issued warning notices until the end of the month, but starting May 1, 2023, a Dh400 punishment will be imposed. The Abu Dhabi Police made this statement in a social media post on Thursday.
Major General Ahmed Saif Bin Zaitoun Al Muhairi, Director of the Central Operations Division of the Abu Dhabi Police, stated that the maximum speed limit on this road would be 140 kph and the minimum speed restriction will be 120 kph for the first and second lanes from the left. He added that the last lane designated for heavy-duty vehicles and the third lane from the left are exempt from the minimum speed restriction system, urging drivers to drive safely to protect public safety. The move is intended to increase driver safety by requiring slow-moving vehicles to stay in the right lanes and make room for fast-moving vehicles approaching from the left. KD/Expat Media
