Abu Dhabi private schools return to in-person classes next week

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) announced the resumption of in-person classes for all private schools in Abu Dhabi next week. Distance learning will no longer be available at the emirate's private schools. Indoor social distancing measures have also been lifted. Students may be exempted if they have an acknowledged "high risk" medical report confirming that they are incapable to attend school in person. Most schools in the country are on a spring break until April 8. After spring break, students will return to school on April 11 for the last term of the current academic year. The new announcement came just a week after ADEK lifted the physical distancing rules in outdoor places for the second term. Some safety measures remain implemented to ensure the welfare of the students, teachers, and personnel in schools. Despite the lifted social distancing measures in indoor areas, students in grades 1-12 must continue to wear face masks inside the school premises. Furthermore, unvaccinated students aged 16 and older can still go to school as long as they provide a negative PCR test result every week. Free tests are accessible at Seha drive-through locations and private medical centers. Parents are encouraged to contact the locations to check the availability of a free test for their children.
