Student backtracked a promise, ordered to return Dh60,000

An Arab student has been ordered to return Dh60,000 he took from his friend after he retracted a promise to buy him a motorbike from a foreign country. The case followed after a man filed a civil complaint against an Arab student who agreed to buy him a motorbike from a foreign country at Dh60,000 but failed to fulfill it even after receiving the money. The agreement was made via WhatsApp. When the man asked him to return the cash, he refused. The court issued a ruling demanding the defendant to return the Dh60,000 and pay Dh4,000 in compensation for a breach of the agreement. He also has to pay the plaintiff's legal expenses. The defendant appealed the ruling to a higher court, which upheld the lower court’s verdict. RZSP/Expat Media
