Tenant ordered to pay Dh165,000 for illegally occupying apartment
The Civil Court in Abu Dhabi ordered an Arab tenant to pay Dh165,000 to the real estate agency after illegally occupying an apartment without paying rent for four years. The Arab man unlawfully seized the apartment without getting a house contract from the company. In the lawsuit filed by the management, the real estate firm demanded the tenant pay Dh190,475 in compensation for illegally occupying the apartment, of which the firm suffered financial losses. When told to vacate the place, the Arab man refused. The Abu Dhabi court ordered the man to be evicted from the apartment. The property was then returned to the real estate company. Aside from the Dh165,000, the tenant was also ordered to pay for the plaintiff's legal expenses.
