Bear escapes crate on Baghdad flight to Dubai

The Iraqi Airways has issued an apology after a bear escaped from a container in the cargo hold of a flight from Baghdad to Dubai. On Friday (August 4), a video taken by a passenger on the trip went viral on social media where a male passenger can be heard saying that his flight was delayed for more than an hour after a bear was found in the cargo hold. Iraqi Airways has issued a statement to apologize for the incident on its website saying, "Following all internationally approved procedures with this type of shipment, represented by allocating cages according to the terms of the Cites agreement for animal crate approved by IATA". When the plane arrived at Dubai International Airport, the bear had left the box designated for its transportation. A specialised team was immediately sent to anaesthetise the animal and transport it out of the plane. No damage or injuries were caused during this incident and no further information was provided as to why the bear was on the plane or where it was going. JG/Expat Media
