Dubai: Christmas Trees for Sale Spring Up Early
It’s only October but Christmas trees for sale are already springing up in several stores across Dubai. In Al Rigga and Al Muraqqabat alone, you can already find artificial Christmas trees in discount stores and even supermarkets. There are many Christmas ornaments as well. At Delta Center in Al Rigga, a decked up Christmas tree adorned the entrance, which also featured a full window advertisement of Santa on his sleigh. “Merry Christmas, all items available,” the ad read. We found a desktop plastic Christmas tree for Dh19.99. They also sold a variety of Christmas decors with prices starting from Dh5.99. At Westzone in Al Muraqqabat, there is a full aisle for plastic Christmas trees with prices starting from Dh16.75. The artificial trees are next to the vegetable section. Over at Gifts For Less on the same street, we found a good range of artificial Christmas trees, with the cheapest for Dh9.99 and the tallest of the lot—an 8-feet-tall Christmas tree—going for Dh179. For many buyers, getting an artificial tree is more cost effective since it can be re-used for years and is easier to set up or dispose. For those who prefer fresh Christmas trees, real ones imported from countries like Canada will start lining up sidewalks outside store in Dubai’s bustling Satwa district come November. There are varieties of trees to choose from, in various sizes and prices upward of Dh500. But, there is room for haggling, perhaps making it one of the most enjoyable Christmas activity you will get to do in Dubai.
