A 9-year-old boy from Dubai has become the youngest person in the world to climb the tallest mountain in the American continent. Ayaan Saboor came close to reaching the peak of Mt. Aconcagua on February 11, after a 20-day trek with his parents. It had always been his “long time” dream to climb Mt. Aconcagua, he said. The mountain has a summit elevation of 22,838 feet. The Saboor family climbed to a height of 3,000 feet away from the peak, but decided not to continue to the summit due to strong winds forecast in the three days that followed. The climb still made Ayaan the youngest climber on Mt. Aconcagua. He received approval from the court to climb the mountain after submitting his application last year. The student of North London Collegiate School in Dubai said he will try to reach the mountain’s summit next year. The young mountaineer has already conquered Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal, Mt. Elbrus in Russia and Mount Kosciuszko in Australia. He hones his climbing skills in the mountains of Hatta and Ras Al Khaimah every weekend.
