Convicted gang of men fined Dh10,000, to be deported from Dubai for gambling in villa

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced gang members to three months in jail, with a fine of Dh10,000 after they were caught using a villa in Dubai's Nad Al Hamar neighborhood for gambling. The court also ordered the gang’s deportation after they serve their jail terms. The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the gang, all Asians, with organizing a gambling den. The gang members were arrested after Dubai Police raided the villa following a tip-off. Officers caught the gang members with gambling cash. Police seized from their possession a box of cash, a gambling table and a TV used to monitor gambling activities in the villa. During interrogation, one of the gang members admitted that he subleased the villa from an Asian woman for Dh60,000 a month. She rented the villa for Dh450,000 a year through a real estate office in the Nad Al Hamar area. One of the defendants said he was a waiter at the villa and had no involvement. Another admitted that he went to the villa on his own after accepting an invitation from one of the game organizers because he wanted to gamble. The other defendants also admitted to gambling.
