Dubai taxi fares now cheaper after tariff reduction

Taxi fares in Dubai will now be 22 fils lower, authorities announced on Thursday (January 12). The latest price reduction on the per kilometer tariff takes effect immediately. The minimum taxi fare of Dh12 will remain unchanged. Under the latest taxi fare rate announced on Thursday, the per kilometre tariff will be Dh1.97 instead of Dh2.19. This is the second time that taxi fares in Dubai have been reduced as global fuel prices continued to lower down. Taxi fares were also reduced in October. Adel Shakry, Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, revealed the latest taxi fare reduction. “The authority is keen to take into account the needs and demands of passengers, pointing out that it reviews the fees for the cost of taxis at a rate of every two months to ensure that they keep pace with all other variable factors that affect their prices,” Shakry said, as reported by Arabic publication Emarat Al Youm. Shakry said that the RTA will continue to review the situation and ensure that the tariff is aligned with fuel prices and the needs of commuters in Dubai. ICA/Expat Media
