Mother tortures 10-year-old daughter to death

A mother who tortured her 10-year-old daughter by forcing her to hold her breath underwater in the bathtub to death has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Dubai Criminal Court. The incident happened in a house in The Villa in Dubai when an ambulance immediately responded after receiving a report from a girl’s family that their daughter drowned in the bathtub. Upon assessing the victim, the paramedics reported the girl’s death did not seem natural after seeing traces of torture, burning, and bruises on her body. The police conducted an investigation and interrogated the mother, who was living with the victim, a two-year-old son, and a domestic worker, who left the country on the same day of the incident. During the interrogation, the mother denied involvement in the crime, accusing the domestic worker of her daughter’s death. The Interpol arrested the domestic worker upon arrival at the airport after an arrest warrant was issued against him. However, the suspect denied the charges and pinned the crime on the mother, stating that he had noticed the mother deliberately abused and tortured her daughter continuously. The suspect further stated that the day before the incident, the mother locked the girl in the room and was found dead in the bathroom with water coming out of the tap on her face the next day. Due to fear and shock, he left the country to escape. The Interpol returned the domestic worker to the UAE on the same day of the arrest. Confronted with the domestic worker's allegations, the mother admitted assaulting her daughter and leaving her in the bathtub until she passed away. The Criminal Court sentenced her to life imprisonment. Meanwhile, the domestic worker was referred to the Misdemeanor Court, which sentenced him to one-month imprisonment for abstaining from reporting a crime. RZSP/Expat Media
