Dubai’s Umm Hurair Road is now home to a world first: the Museum of Candy! The quirky new museum opened on Friday (November 15), with eight interactive zones and a promise of sugary delights that’s a treat for kids and adults alike. The Expat Media team arrived for a sneak preview ahead of opening day. Finding the Museum of Candy was a bit of a damper. It’s tucked away in a stretch of Dubai known more for offices and home furniture stores. From the back door, we followed the sign past a small restaurant and down a quiet corridor before arriving at the entrance, where two friendly staffers handed us candy canes and "passports" for our sugary journey.

Selfie spots, sweet surprises and freebies

Once inside, we were transported to a world of candy-inspired art and interactive exhibits. Each zone offered unique Instagram-worthy backdrops: From a lollipop mini-garden to a pool of sprinkles. Our cameras got quite the workout as we posed with candy sculptures, swam in imaginary candy pools, and snapped selfies under clouds of cotton candy. While the museum isn’t the biggest interective spot we’ve visited, it has its charm. If you’re creative, it could be a great place for a unique candy-themed photoshoot. The best part? The candy giveaways! A candy truck man handed out gummy treats in exchange for passport stamps, and we indulged in ice cream, candy floss, and fizzy drinks along the way. Some staff were more enthusiastic than others when it came to sharing the goodies (special shoutout to the lady who said, “Take as much cotton candy as you want!” and the guy who gave us extra lollipops). There was also a fun arcade game where one of us won a giant bear—though it turned out media preview rules didn’t let us keep the stuffed toy. Well, better luck next time! As much fun as we had, there were a few hiccups.  The candy café at the end of the experience was not fully staffed, leaving us wishing for a snack or two to indulge in before heading home. Hopefully, these are just pre-opening day jitters.
