Dubai: Delivery bike riders drove with expired licenses

Recent inspections by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have uncovered several major infractions committed by delivery bike drivers, including failing to follow safety regulations, improper use of safety equipment, and even operating vehicles with expired permits. More than 7,000 delivery motorcycles have been examined. "The inspections identified several recurring violations by delivery bike drivers such as the failure to adhere to safety regulations, the lack of wearing protective equipment and reflective vests, operating bikes with expired licenses, and affixing advertising materials on delivery bikes without seeking permits from the RTA," said Muhannad Al Mheiri, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring, Licensing Agency, RTA to Khaleej Times. In collaboration with the necessary government agencies, the RTA's Licensing Agency has already conducted many awareness-raising and inspection initiatives on Dubai's delivery service providers. The effort includes Zabeel, Jumeirah, and nine neighborhoods along Hessa Street.

Mandatory requirements

— Card authorized for use in the delivery business. – While riding, uniforms and safety equipment must be worn. - Completed delivery driver professional training. — 100 km/h motorbike speed limit. – Using RTA-approved delivery boxes. KD/Expat Media
