Global Village, one of Dubai’s most popular outdoor attractions, has confirmed plans to reopen on Friday (December 19), following a temporary closure caused by adverse weather conditions across the emirate. The family destination announced that it will welcome guests again starting 4pm, returning to its regular operating hours after shutting its gates on Thursday (December 18), as a safety precaution amid heavy rainfall. The brief closure came as Dubai experienced widespread rain, prompting authorities to limit outdoor activities and advise residents to exercise caution. Since then, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has moved swiftly to clear accumulated water from major roads, restoring access to key areas surrounding the park. With roads and public transport now deemed safe, Global Village confirmed it is ready to resume operations earlier than initially expected. Celebrating its 30th season, Global Village remains a flagship attraction in Dubai’s winter calendar. The open-air destination features 30 country pavilions representing more than 90 cultures, offering international food, shopping, live entertainment, and family-friendly attractions that reflect the emirate’s diverse population. Fridays are among the busiest nights at the venue, with visitors typically gathering for the weekly fireworks display at 9pm, a long-standing highlight of the Global Village experience. Adding to the festive atmosphere this season, the park recently unveiled a 21-metre-high Christmas tree at the centre of a winter wonderland-themed zone. Seasonal celebrations also include live performances of Swan Lake, staged twice nightly at 7.35pm and 9.05pm on the Main Stage, running until December 26. A spokesperson for Global Village confirmed the reopening and encouraged guests to enjoy the seasonal attractions. “Global Village looks forward to welcoming guests today, Friday, December 19, starting from 4pm,” the spokesperson said. “Enjoy all the festive fun with two Christmas trees, Santa and his elves, and don’t miss the special Swan Lake shows at 7.35pm and 9.05pm on the Main Stage.” Visitors are advised to check official Global Village channels for any further updates, particularly as weather conditions continue to be monitored across the UAE.
