Hundreds of people waited for nearly four hours at City Center Deira on Thursday (November 10) at the start of distribution for Dubai Run bibs and t-shirts. Scenes at the collection point near the Aloft Hotel entrance at the mall showed throngs of people waiting to collect their running wear ahead of the iconic November 20 event. Jonathan (full name withheld) told Expatmedia.net he was only able to collect his bib and t-shirt at around 7:30pm after waiting in line since 4pm. “The queue was unbelievable,” another resident told Expatmedia.net, adding that she did not expect the mad rush during the opening day for bib collection. Pre-ordered t-shirts were handed out to those who were able to register early, while those who registered late will only get bibs. Bib and t-shirt collection for Dubai Run will be open until November 13, and from November 17 to 19. Three collection points are open during regular mall hours: Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Hills Mall and City Centre Deira. Participants need to wear their bib to participate in Dubai Run, which will see Sheikh Zayed Road turn into a giant running track on November 20. The world’s largest free fun run is one of the key highlights of Dubai Fitness Challenge, and is open to runners of all ages and fitness abilities. This year’s Dubai Run will have two routes: the 5km route and the 10km route. Both routes start near the Museum of the Future on Sheikh Zayed Road.
