The JAFCO Supermarket outlet in the Al Danah residential area along Najda Street. ADAFSA
The JAFCO Supermarket outlet in Abu Dhabi will remain closed until its violations are sorted, according to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA). According to the authority, the supermarket will only be allowed to reopen when it corrects its violations on food safety and hygiene. The JAFCO Supermarket that was shut down is located in the Al Danah residential area along Najda Street. In a statement, the authority said it shut down JAFCO Supermarket for violating the law regarding food safety in Abu Dhabi and for being a danger to public health. According to ADAFSA, the supermarket failed to correct multiple hygiene and safety violations despite multiple warnings. The violations included insect infestations, and storage of raw meat and fish in unsafe conditions. ADAFSA has conducted inspections in recent weeks as part of a campaign on food safety. The authority urged the public to report food safety violations via the hotline 800555.
