He’s just 12, but he’s already flying high on dirt tracks and landing on podiums. Meet Miles Andrew  Solon—the young Filipino motocross racer with big dreams, bold moves, and a heart full of courage. He’s already taken 2nd place in the 85cc category at the 2025 ArenaCross World Tour at Etihad Arena, and has multiple championships under his belt—including 3rd place wins in Dubai Motocross Championships for the 50cc and 65cc categories. So how did this young Pinoy speedster go from toy bikes to turbocharged dirt racers? In a special Q&A with Expat Media, Miles tells us what it’s like to chase speed, conquer fear, and represent the Philippines on the UAE motocross scene.

You’re just 12, but already into motorsports—how did it all begin?

I think I first fell in love with motocross when I was around 3 or 4 years old. I watched a race at DMX in Jebel Ali, and the riders were flying—it looked so exciting! The first time I rode a dirt bike, it was a PW50 Yamaha. I felt so free and happy.

What’s it like when you’re on the track, helmet on, engine roaring?

It’s like everything else disappears. My heart beats fast, but I stay calm and focused. It’s just me, the bike, and the track—my own world. I feel powerful and alive!

Who inspires you the most?

My Dad introduced me to motocross. My whole family supports me, especially my eldest sister, who used to race too. I also look up to riders like Cole Davies, Eli Tomac, and Haiden Deegan.

How do people react when they find out you race?

They’re super surprised! Some don’t believe me until they see photos or videos. Kababayans say ‘Pinoy Pride!’ and that makes me happy—because I’m racing not just for myself but for all Filipino kids chasing dreams.

What’s been your toughest challenge so far?

Crashing during a practice run—it made me scared to go fast again. But I learned that being brave means continuing even when you’re scared. I told myself: ‘It’s okay to fall, as long as you get back up.’
