She’s just 17, and already on top of Europe—literally! Fatima Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, a determined Emirati teen, just became the youngest Emirati ever to reach the snowy summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia. That’s Europe’s tallest mountain at 5,642 meters high—as high as 14 Burj Khalifas stacked together! Climbing it wasn’t a walk in the park (or a hike in Jebel Hafeet). Fatima had to brave icy winds, steep cliffs, and tough terrain to raise the UAE flag on top. And guess what? This isn’t her first mountain. Last year, she conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa! Fatima is on a mission to finish the "Seven Summits" challenge—climbing the tallest mountain on each continent. “I dedicate this achievement to those who taught us that nothing is beyond our reach,” said Fatima. She thanked UAE leaders, her mom Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, and remembered her late dad for guiding her path. Fatima’s not just into mountains. She’s planning environmental projects and charity work to help those in need. “This journey is about proving that young Arab women can lead, explore, and inspire change,” she said. Her journey was backed by Finance House, a company that believes in youth power. So the next time someone says girls can’t climb high—tell them about Fatima. PIA/Expat Media
