Meta conducts mass layoffs for 4,000 high-skilled employees

According to reports, Meta (previously Facebook) began a new round of mass layoffs last Wednesday (April 19), affecting at least 4,000 highly qualified workers. According to a Vox report, up to 4,000 job cuts may occur. CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg indicated in March that 10,000 jobs would be eliminated in the next months. The Washington Post obtained a copy of an internal document from Meta stating that "the company will begin notifying employees on its technical teams whose jobs are being cut." According to the source, Meta will also reveal freshly reorganized teams and management hierarchy. Zuckerberg indicated in March that he would lay off 10,000 more workers through many waves of employment cuts. Generally speaking, according to Zuckerberg, "we expect to reduce our team size by around 10,000 people and to close around 5,000 additional open roles that we haven't yet hired."
