Multi-award-winning fashion designer Michael Cinco added another feather to his cap by taking home the Star Icon award in Dubai on Thursday (November 10). “I think it is time for us to show the world we are not just overseas Filipino workers; we are the new generation of Filipino global achievers,” Cinco said as he accepted his award at the Global Filipino Icon Awards organized by The Global Filipino Magazine. The Filipino fashion designer dedicated his award to overseas Filipinos. “May this award be a beacon of hope to Filipinos anywhere in the world who are very passionate about their work,” Cinco said. Fresh from showing his latest collection at the recent Middle East Fashion Week, Cinco thanked God for “blessing me with this wonderful life and for giving me faith and confidence to believe that if you dare to dream, you can make your impalpable dreams come true”.

Cinco’s love for fashion started when he watched Hollywood films as a boy growing up in the Samar province of the Philippines. He would later move to Dubai to put up his own self-titled fashion house; dressing countless Hollywood, Bollywood, and Filipino celebrities, including Tyra Banks, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Pia Wurtzbach.
