UAE expats can now reactivate invalid residence visa while abroad

A new service allows UAE expatriates to reactivate their residence visa if they have stayed outside the country for more than six months. The service—a new entry permit application—is available via typing centres accredited by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), and also through the ICP website. Typing centres confirmed that the entry permit application was activated last Friday and enables expats to have their residence visa reactivated so they can enter the UAE. Under UAE rules, expat residents who stay outside the UAE for more than 180 consecutive days will have their residence visa automatically invalidated. With the new ICP service, the holder of a UAE residence visa who stayed abroad for more than six months, can apply for an entry permit. Once the application is approved, the expat would be able to enter the UAE with a reactivated visa. To apply for the permit, the expat must submit copies of his or her passport and Emirates ID, along with an explanation for the delay in entering the country. ICA/Expat Media
