OFW files complaint against a priest who failed to return borrowed car, over PHP100,000 money

Judylen Cesar, a caregiver in Jerusalem for 15 years, filed a complaint against a priest after the accused failed to return the car he borrowed along with over PHP100,00 money. The OFW said in an interview that she has already sent out three demand letters asking the priest to return the car and all the money he spent. “At first it was okay but he but then he really started to take advantage of the car.” Cesar said in Filipino. Jorge Casaberde, the accused priest reportedly used the car as a reason to ask for more than 100,000 pesos from the OFW claiming that the car was already at a car shop and that he didn’t have money for the repair. “He said that the car is at a car repair shop and he didn’t have money to pay for the repair,” Cesar said. The OFW provided PHP100,000 to have the car fixed. Apart from the money Cesar initially provided, Casaberde also took more than PHP30,000 and spent the money on personal things. According to Fr. Julius Descartin, Parish Administrator of the parish church where Casaberde was assigned, the accused priest was already removed from the parish. “When he heard about the problem, we immediately removed him from the parish which was four months ago.” Casaberde defended himself and said that the car owner consented to the transactions. “I didn’t ask for anything. Any transaction that I have . I will return the car to her house because I know where her house is,” he explained. The priest is currently undergoing a formation program. “I understand that it affected her but I hope she also understands that it affected me too. Because of all this, I am now undergoing a renewal program.” the priest added. The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camarines Norte is now processing the necessary documents to file a case against Casaberde. BKM/ Expat Media
