Philippine official caught having sex during Zoom call

  CAVITE – A government official has been caught having sex with the village treasurer during a Zoom meeting, sparking an investigation as video of the act went viral. Jesus Estil, captain of the village council in Fatima Dos, Cavite province, was reportedly unaware that his camera was still on during the August 26 incident. Estil was caught on video having sex in a far corner of the room while the council meeting was ongoing. A staff member who attended the online council meeting recorded the scene and the video eventually became public. Villagers have filed a petition to fire Estil for misconduct. The two officials have reportedly resigned from their post but the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has yet to receive their resignation letters. Meanwhile Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Friday that the two may still face charges despite quitting from their post. DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya also said the DILG can still pursue administrative charges. Malaya stressed that “resignation does not extinguish his administrative liability since the act was done while he was in office’’. “But he can no longer be suspended or relieved but instead fine or disqualification from public office may be imposed against him,’’ Malaya said. The DIL G is conducting an investigation for “grave misconduct”. Malaya described the supposed act as “appalling and disturbing because it goes against public morals and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees.’’ Malaya said that the DILG “does not condone or tolerate such obscene behavior” and will recommend that Estil be prosecuted”. ICA/Expat Media
