Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid receives Covid-19 vaccine

  DUBAI - Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, received the Covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday (November 3). In a tweet on the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed said, "We wish everyone safety and great health, and we are proud of our teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available in the UAE. The future will always be better in the UAE." A number of officials have received a dose of the vaccine since October after the UAE granted approval for its emergency use while on trial in the country. The vaccine, developed by China's Sinopharm, is now in the third and final stage of clinical trials and has so far been found safe and effective, according to authorities. Over 31,000 volunteers had received the injection as part of the program. The vaccine is being administered to frontline workers and professionals. UAE ministers who have taken the Covid-19 vaccine include Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; Obaid Al Shamsi, director general of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority; Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office was administered the vaccine on September 24.
