Customs officers intercepted a traveler allegedly attempting to smuggle 23kg of "black magic" contraband into Dubai. The individual, who had traveled from an African country, had 120 illegal items in his suitcase, including talismans, leather pieces, writing materials, and vials holding unknown liquids. Officials confiscated the items after they became suspicious about his behavior. According to police, the incident occurred in October at Dubai International Airport's Terminal 1. The man was referred to the police for further investigation. "We are aware of the dangers these materials used in witchcraft can cause and we provide our inspectors with all kinds of training to educate them about the nature and different types of these materials," said Khalid Ahmed, director of passenger operations at Dubai Customs. He claims that smugglers frequently use novel tactics to deceive customs officials. Under UAE law, practicing black magic or attempting to transport sorcery goods is illegal. Those caught smuggling them are subject to prison, fines, or both.
