UAE railway mega-project to deliver 200km/hr travel speed between Dubai and Sharjah

A new railway project by Etihad Rail will travel at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, potentially cutting travel time between emirates in half. The railway mega-project will connect the UAE with a cutting-edge public transportation system, stretching from Ghweifat on the Saudi Arabian border in the west to the Omani border in the east. The rail will be used to transport heavy goods before carrying millions of passengers by 2030, reducing travel time between cities. The proposed national railway network will stretch 1,200 kilometers across the UAE, from the Saudi border to the Oman border. Once completed, Etihad Rail will connect all seven emirates of UAE to the five neighboring countries. The Etihad Rail was first established in June 2009, under Federal Law No. 2, with the mandate to manage the development, construction, and operation of the UAE’s national freight and passenger railway network.
