From marshmallows under the stars to basketball dreams—Russell Paca, 11, shares why the UAE will always be home.

In his words: Living in the UAE is really special because people from so many different countries live here, and everyone is so accepting and tolerant. I feel proud to celebrate my culture as a Filipino, and it's amazing how I also get to learn about other cultures from my friends. No matter where you're from, you feel welcome here, and that’s what makes the UAE such a great place to grow up! Firstly, I love going to Global Village because it feels like exploring the whole world in one place. I get to experience different cultures, taste delicious food from everywhere, and watch colorful performances. Secondly, theme parks like Motiongate, and Ferrari World are full of thrilling rides, exciting attractions, and fun adventures that I never get tired of! During winter, camping in the desert is also amazing! My family and I roast marshmallows, tell stories under the stars, and enjoy the calm, beautiful silence of UAE nature. These places make me feel excited, curious, and thankful to live in such a fun and unique country. When I grow up, I want to be a basketball player because it's my favorite sport and I’m already taking classes to get better. I love the feeling of being on the court, working hard, and being part of a team. The UAE has so many opportunities for young athletes like me, with great coaches, facilities, and tournaments, so I definitely see myself living here in the future! I’ve lived here all my life, and it feels like home. But the Philippines is also special to me. It’s where my roots are, and I’d love to visit often and maybe even play there someday too.
