Moira brings danggit to Filipino fan in Qatar

A video of a Filipino in Qatar has gone viral after multi-awarded singer Moira Dela Torre brought him a surprise from the Philippines: A box of danggit, a dried fish delicacy. The surprise meetup and gift came after Christian Baysa, a freelance chef in Qatar, made his request in a comment on a Facebook post about Moira’s concert in Qatar. “I will watch your concert in Qatar. Is it possible for you to bring me danggit? I will pay it here,” Baysa said in Filipino. Moira commented, “Hanep (cool).” Little did Baysa know that the popular singer would actually grant his request. Moira was seen on video carrying the box of danggit on stage at her concert in Qatar’s Asian Town on February 10. “Kuya Boy come out now. My clothes smell of danggit because of you and I haven’t met you yet,” Moira quipped in Filipino. After a few minutes, Baysa came onstage to receive the gift. Baysa said that Moira refused to let him pay for the box of danggit. He later posted a video eating the cooked dried fish, saying, “cravings satisfied”. In an interview with Bandera, Baysa said he made the random comment after craving for danggit. Baysa makes videos on his Facebook account Boy ulam Lutong bahay. He said he was “super overwhelmed” to meet his idol and to receive the gift. He said that after the concert, he met with Moira again to give her gifts such as lotion, perfume and food. Baysa has lived in Qatar in the last 10 years with his wife and their two children. ICA/Expat Media
