WATCH - Filipino UAE’s youngest Covid-19 patient recovers

  DUBAI – Staff at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City broke into jubilant claps and cheers as the country’s youngest Covid-19 patient, a Filipino from Abu Dhabi, made a full recovery. Hervie Emmanuel Magos, 9, was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday (April 21) after recovering from Covid-19 or coronavirus. Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, shared a video where the Filipino boy is seen trying to cover his face with his hands as he is overcome by emotions while surrounded by doctors and nurses at the hospital. Magos had spent a month in the hospital where his mother and father were also admitted due to serious coronavirus symptoms. The family lives in Abu Dhabi. At one point, the boy was in critical condition in the intensive care unit where he spent his 9th birthday on April 1. In an interview with the media, Magos’ mother, Hermali, said they thought the boy was going to die after his left lung got infected. Magos’ condition improved on April 11 and he was moved to the general ward. Hermali, 41, and husband Viterbo, 40, have also recovered after developing severe effects of Covid-19. Viterbo was the first to show symptoms of Covid-19 and was in the ICU because he couldn’t breathe, while Hermali was  “delirious” due to high fever. Meanwhile, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Gargash congratulated Magos on “celebrating life” and for celebrating this belated birthday. ICA/Expat Media
