832 Pakistanis with visit visa denied entry into Dubai

  DUBAI – A total of 832 Pakistani passengers have been denied entry into Dubai since Tuesday after failing to meet visit visa requirements, according to the General Consulate of Pakistan in Dubai. So far, 657 of the stranded passengers have been repatriated, with 166 others scheduled to return home on Sunday (October 18). Since last week, hundreds of passengers from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan were stranded at Dubai airport after failing to meet entry requirements. Authorities said the passengers who were refused entry to Dubai were not able to present a return ticket even though they were visit visa or tourist visa holders. In a circular issued to airlines, Dubai Airports said: “Passengers with visit and tourist visas arriving (in) Dubai without a return ticket will be not be permitted entry”. The Pakistan Consulate in Dubai said that other visit visa entry requirements that the stranded passengers failed to meet were having sufficient funds for their stay and relatives’ details. “Pakistani nationals are requested to fulfil minimum entry requirements, and they should have the visa for Dubai if they want to land at Dubai airport,” according to the consulate. Meanwhile, consulate staff have been working round-the-clock to assist stranded passengers for their quick repatriation and have been providing free meals.
