Asian arrested for stealing Dh113,000 from popular clothing store in Dubai

An Asian man was sentenced to three months in prison and fined Dh113,000 by the Dubai Criminal Court for stealing that amount from a clothing store in a Dubai mall. The Court ruled that the offender will be deported after serving his sentence. Last November, the manager of a well-known apparel store in Marina Mall submitted a report alleging that Dh113,000 had been stolen from his workplace's safe. In the investigation, the manager said that he discovered the theft while completing a routine inventory of the money in the safe. He, along with two employees, discovered that the safe was empty. The manager attempted to contact the sales agent, who had a duplicate of the safe's key, but the latter did not answer the phone. The manager also discovered that the suspect had left the country, prompting him to alert the police. Police launched in investigation into the matter. Investigators examined footage from the CCTV cameras put in the mall and the store. They discovered that the convict had left the store with the rest of the staff, but then returned alone. He was later seen leaving the store with a plastic bag in his hand. He exited the mall after closing the store door. The convict also fled the country on the day the crime was discovered. He was apprehended upon his return to the UAE. During interrogation, the suspect originally denied any involvement in the incident, but admitted his crime after being  presented with footage from security cameras. KMB/Expat Media
