Road barricades and first aid tents were already in place around Downtown Dubai on Monday (December 26) ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations at Burj Khalifa. The centerpiece of the celebrations will be a new record for the largest laser display from the 828-metre Burj Khalifa, in addition to spectacular fireworks, and synchronized show by The Dubai Fountain. Every year, the fireworks display at Burj Khalifa to ring in the New Year draws in massive crowds, which is why pedestrian lanes around Downtown Dubai are barricaded to direct the flow of people. On December 31, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed from 6pm onwards, with road closures expected to be lifted between 1am and 2am. There will be five access points across Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard for visitors: Gate 1 behind Downtown Command Centre, Gate 2 behind Burj Vista, Gate 3 near Emaar Square, adjacent to Boulevard Plaza Building, Gate 4 opposite Address Boulevard and Gate 5 opposite Address Downtown Those arriving ahead of road closures can park at Dubai Mall until capacity is reached, and once road closures surrounding parking access are in place, mall parking will be closed. Cars parked within Downtown Dubai will be able to leave the parking areas once road closures are lifted. The Dubai Mall Metro Station is expected to close between 2pm and 10pm, depending on crowd capacity at Dubai Mall. Visitors can download the U by Emaar app for the full NYE 2023 guide.
