Four arrested, fined Dh42,000 for kidnapping and assaulting woman

A gang of four Asians has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment and a fine of Dh42,000 after kidnapping an Asian woman, assaulting her, stripping her clothes off, and stealing Dh42,000 through a digital currency transfer. They will be deported after serving their jail terms. According to case files, the incident dates back to August 2022, when an Asian woman filed a report stating that she had been kidnapped, assaulted, and robbed. In her testimony, she claimed that one of the members contacted her to buy digital currency and agreed on a place where they could carry out the deal. But the moment she arrived at the contact point, four men came to her and assaulted her. She further stated during the interrogation that one of the suspects grabbed her phone, opened her currency trading app, and transferred funds to the suspect’s account. They continued to molest her and electrocuted her before they stripped her clothes off. They even took pictures of her body to blackmail her. After investigating the case and checking all the surveillance cameras, a team of detectives managed to identify the suspects. The team arrested the gang and also discovered the electric shocker and video clips of the woman. One of the suspects, a former driver of the victim, admitted to the crime. According to the suspect, he knew she was investing in digital currencies and agreed with other suspects to lure the victim using a fake deal.
