Etihad Rail has completed its first passenger train station in Fujairah, marking a major milestone ahead of the planned launch of passenger rail services across the UAE later this year. Located in the Madinat Al Hilal area, the new Fujairah Passenger Station spans 51,900 square metres and will serve as one of the key hubs in the country's long-awaited passenger railway network. The station's completion comes as Etihad Rail prepares to introduce passenger services connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, offering residents and visitors a new transport option designed to reduce travel times and improve connectivity between the emirates.

Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in 105 minutes

According to Etihad Rail officials, trains on the network will operate at speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour and accommodate up to 400 passengers per journey. Once operational, the travel time between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah is expected to be approximately 105 minutes, significantly reducing journey times compared to road travel. Officials said the first phase of passenger operations will include the simultaneous launch of three routes linking Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah. Travel schedules and ticketing details are expected to be announced through official channels closer to the start of operations. The station in Fujairah has been strategically positioned to provide convenient access to key destinations in the emirate. It is located approximately 12 minutes from Fujairah International Airport, six minutes from Umbrella Beach Corniche and five minutes from Sakamkam Fort. Etihad Rail said the station has been designed to provide a modern and seamless travel experience. Facilities include retail outlets, a VIP lounge, high-speed Wi-Fi and onboard dining carriages. Passengers will also have access to waiting areas, a customer service office, automated payment machines and clear directional signage designed to improve accessibility and convenience.
