A Filipino expat based in Qatar was among four winners in Big Ticket’s third weekly May e-draw, with expatriates from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh also taking home cash prizes. A Filipino national living in Qatar was among four expatriates who won Dh100,000 in Big Ticket’s third weekly e-draw for May, organisers announced this week. Joel Batao from the Philippines emerged as one of the lucky winners, although Big Ticket officials said he was still unaware of his prize as organisers continued attempts to contact him. The draw also produced winners from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, with each taking home Dh25,000 as part of Big Ticket’s ongoing weekly promotions ahead of its June grand draw. Pakistani national Muhammad Anwar UlHaq finally struck luck after participating in Big Ticket for two decades. The 48-year-old site supervisor, who has lived in Sharjah for 30 years, reacted emotionally upon hearing the news. “Alhamdulillah… Thank you Big Ticket,” he said. Muhammad has been purchasing tickets every month together with 10 colleagues from work. He said he has yet to finalise plans for the money. Another first-time winner was Bangladeshi national Mohon Miah MD Sayek Mia, a 29-year-old construction worker who has lived in the UAE for the past three years. Mohon said he regularly joined Big Ticket draws with a group of 10 friends while working far away from his family in Bangladesh. The win comes as a major boost for the young worker, who hopes to improve his family’s circumstances back home. Indian national Areepurath Shanavas Abdulrahiman also won in the weekly draw while vacationing in India when he received the life-changing news. Big Ticket’s fourth and final weekly e-draw for May is scheduled on Monday (June 1) and will cover tickets purchased from May 26 to 31. Meanwhile, the next Big Ticket live draw will take place on Wednesday (June 3), where one participant will walk away with the Dh20 million grand prize. Customers who buy two tickets in a single transaction between May 1 and 24 will also qualify for The Big Win game segment. Four finalists will be announced on Monday, with contestants competing live on stage for prizes worth up to Dh150,000 each. ICA/Expat Media
