India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020: all details

  DUBAI – Details about India’s Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 202 were revealed during a ceremony on Saturday. Here’s all you need to know,

What is the pavilion going to look like?

The four-storey pavilion will feature a tall statue of Mahatma Gandhi and a replica of a sun dial at the entrance. The main building will have a façade covered by images of leaves. The India pavilion’s name is written in Arabic and Hindi. The pavilion will occupy a total area of 4,800 square feet and will house two buildings – the Plaza, which will be a retail space, and the pavilion.

What’s inside the Plaza and Pavilion?

The Plaza will house retail exhibits, while the Pavilion will house art, culture, entertainment, renewable energy, health, education, food court and space programme.


Where is it located?

The India Pavilion is located in the Opportunity Sector of the Dubai Expo District.

How much is the pavilion estimated to cost?

The construction of the pavilion is estimated to cost Dh250 million, but much of the funding has been pledged by several Indian businessmen in the UAE, including M.A. Yusuf Ali, Dr Azad Moopen, Irfan Allana and Vinay Shetty.

When will the pavilion be completed?

The project will be complete by August 2020.

What is the theme of the pavilion?

The theme of the pavilion is ‘The Future is India’, which will reflect in the aesthetics, technology and culture in the construction of the project.

What experience can visitors expect?

The 5,000-year history of Indian culture will be narrated through 170 dynamic programmes taking place on all 170 days of the Expo 2020. Every aspect of India from culture to art, entertainment, gems and jewellery, cuisines, businesses, start-ups, space programme and so on will find a representation at the pavilion.

What celebrations can we catch at the pavilion?

The Diwali on November 19, 2020 and Indian Republic Day on January 26, 2021 will be the main events that you shouldn’t miss at the India Pavilion.

What will happen to the pavilion after Expo 2020?

The pavilion would continue permanently as a unique centre for trade, craft, culture, art and heritage.
