Medical helicopter in the Philippines goes missing

According to authorities, the search for a missing medical evacuation helicopter with five people on board in the Philippines is underway on Wednesday (March 1). The helicopter departed for Brooke's Point Municipality in the morning but never arrived. The Sulu Sea is crossed for the majority of the 150 km journey. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the plane was transporting a patient from the remote Mangsee Islands to a hospital in the western island province of Palawan. The Philippine Coast Guard said that a boat had been sent to search the waters between Brooke's Point and the southern Palawan island of Balabac. None of the nationalities of people in the aircraft has been made public. A nonprofit organization that provides medical evacuation services in Palawan, Mindanao, and the main island of Luzon, the Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services, operated the helicopter. American helicopter and fixed-wing pilot Dwayne Harris founded the group in 2007, and it currently consists of five pilots and five aircraft. A Cessna carrying four people, including two Australians, recently crashed on an active volcano in the center of the Philippines. All four died.
