Messages of honesty, sacrifice, tolerance and family unity took centre stage during Eid Al Adha sermons delivered across mosques in the UAE on Wednesday (May 27). At Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, delivered a sermon titled “Our Eid is sincerity and sacrifice”. During the sermon, Dr. Al Darei highlighted honesty as a cornerstone of strong societies and national progress. He said honesty is “the shortest path to trust” and one of the foundations upon which stable societies and civilisations are built. According to Dr. Al Darei, the UAE leadership established the nation on values of sincerity, unity and integrity from the very beginning, helping transform the country into a strong and prosperous nation. The imam also stressed that honesty is reflected in loyalty to one’s homeland, protecting national interests and carrying out responsibilities with integrity. He said sincerity is demonstrated through parents raising children well, teachers remaining dedicated to their mission, employees fulfilling their duties honestly and citizens contributing to the country’s continued development. Meanwhile in Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mansour delivered the Eid sermon at Sharjah Mosque in the presence of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and senior officials. Sheikh Dr. Mansour focused on the virtues of monotheism, sincerity and devotion to Allah while urging worshippers to follow the teachings and guidance of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him). He spoke about the importance of moderation and balance in Islam, warning against extremism and negligence. He also highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid Al Adha and the rewards associated with honouring the ritual of sacrifice. A major theme of the sermon centred on family values and social harmony. Sheikh Dr. Mansour said one of the greatest blessings for believers is having a righteous spouse and children who support one another in goodness and faith. He stressed the importance of building families on strong religious and moral foundations, noting that families play a central role in raising children and instilling noble values in society. The Sharjah sermon also encouraged forgiveness, tolerance and maintaining family ties while rejecting hatred, disputes and division. Sheikh Dr. Mansour concluded by praying for the continued security, stability and wellbeing of the UAE, its leadership, citizens and residents. ICA/Expat Media
