1,391 Filipinos vote in Dubai on first day of overseas voting for Philippine Elections 2022

  DUBAI – A total of 1,391 Filipinos cast their vote at the start of the overseas voting in Dubai on Sunday (April 9), according to the Philippine Consulate General Dubai. Dozens of people were seen lining up outside the consulate even before polls opened on Sunday morning. Watch the coverage here: Philippine Consul General Renato Dueñas told Expatmedia.net that the turnout on the first day of voting was very good, with “many already cast their ballots”. “It’s nice to see so many people really eager to exercise their right to vote,” the consul general said, “So you can say the democracy is really alive and Filipinos here in Dubai they care deeply about their country and they want to have their own voice heard.” ALSO READ: Hundreds of Filipino voters turn up at Philippine Consulate in Dubai In Dubai and the northern emirates, there are 191,779 registered Filipino voters, which is the highest number in the region, said Vice Consul Elizabeth Ramos. The month-long overseas voting for the 2022 Philippine elections runs until May 9. Polls in the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi are open daily from 8am until 9pm, except on May 9, when polls are open from 8am until 3pm only. Overseas Filipinos will vote for national positions: president, vice president, senators, and party-list groups.

Overseas voting in UAE: How to vote

1. Check if your name is in the registered voters list, which is on the website of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai (for voters in Dubai and northern Emirates), or the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi (for voters in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain). 2.
