Guinness responds to fake news on BBM caravan

  A photo of Guinness World Records (GWR) responding to Philippine disinformation about the BBM caravan in Ilocos has been circulating online. With the Philippine elections getting closer, disinformation has been more rampant and unverified claims about the presidential aspirants have been one of the sources of fake news. "Guinness world record longest motorcade BBM," according to the post supporting Philippine presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos. The post claimed it was the longest motorcade in the world. The social media post did not mention when the alleged caravan took place but the photos stated that it happened in Ilocos Norte. The official account of the Guinness World Record debunked the claim on Wednesday (March 30), saying, "This information is incorrect". Filipinos are divided in their chosen presidential bets. Surveys pointed out Bongbong Marcos and Leni Robredo as the strongest contenders in the polls. According to Tsek.ph, as of date, Marcos Jr. has chalked up the most numerous “fake” endorsements of his candidacy. Meanwhile,  Marcos came second to presidential aspirant Leni Robredo as victims of disinformation among the Philippine Presidentiables, With Robredo scoring 47 percent and Marcos scoring 36 pecent. A total of 90 percent of the disinformation about Marcos are positive comments about the late dictator’s son. Meanwhile, 94 percent of the disinformation about Robredo are negative comments. The study further explains that the fake news about Robredo is leaning towards Marcos’ favor. A netizen tweeted a photo of GWR responding to disinformation and captioned it with, "How GWR responds to disinformation". GWR then responds with: " Not here to waste anyone's time." As of writing, the comment of GWR on the post has been deleted but screenshots of the reply have been posted all over the internet. JMS/Expat Media
