290 Filipinos stranded in Dubai return home, 345 more to fly to Philippines

  DUBAI – Some 290 Filipino seafarers stranded in Dubai were repatriated on Monday, with another flight scheduled on Wednesday (June 16) to bring home 345 more Filipinos, a Philippine Airlines representative told Expatmedia.net. While the Philippines has extended a ban on travelers from the UAE until June 30, passengers on repatriation flights arranged by the government or companies are exempted from the travel ban. June 16 update: Repatriation in Dubai, Filipinos return home for good On Monday (June 14), a private company in the Philippines arranged a chartered flight on Philippine Airlines to bring home 290 of their seafarers stranded in Dubai, Agnes Pagaduan, Country Manager of Philippine Airlines, told Expatmedia.net. The group boarded Philippine Airlines flight PR8659 and departed from Dubai International Airport at 8:45pm, Pagaduan said.

Repatriation flight scheduled on June 16

On Wednesday morning (June 16), a repatriation flight on Philippine Airlines is scheduled to bring home some 345 Filipinos stranded in the UAE. The repatriation flight from Dubai, confirmed by the Philippine Embassy, will carry Filipinos who met difficulties during the pandemic, deportees, as well as medical patients.
